Michael J. Collins is host of WKU Public Radio’s Morning Edition program, airing from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m central in Bowling Green, Owensboro, Elizabethtown and Somerset. He also contributes general reporting for the station.
He graduated from Western Kentucky University in 2023 with a BA in Journalism, minoring in political science.
Michael previously worked at the Bowling Green Daily News through Report for America as an education reporter.
Prior, he worked at the WKU College Heights Herald as Editor-in-Chief, overseeing all daily operations for print and WKUHerald.com. He also worked as a writer from 2019-2020, Digital News editor during the spring of 2021, and Content Manager in the fall of 2021.
Michael also worked as a multimedia reporter for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch in the summer of 2021. He produced videos for STLToday.com as well as photos and writing for print.
He was a reporter for the Kentucky Center for Investigative Reporting and WFPL 89.3 in Louisville, Kentucky, during the summer of 2022. Michael wrote and produced news and feature segments for radio and articles for web. His investigative work with KyCIR focused primarily on judicial ethics and prison conditions.
